(25-11-2015, 09:11)Klemenc Napisal: MEP for Finnish Central party Anneli Jäätteenmäki has filed a written interpellation in European parliament against revisioning of firearms directive.
According to Jäätteenmäki the commission should make clear separation between criminal terrorists and law abiding shooters.
- Proposal of the European Commission falsely binds these two groups together. Most European countries have professional armies and they do not care, but to Finland this is vital, states Jäätteenmäki.
Commission is proposing banning the private ownership of semiautomatic firearms from civilians.
If this proposal is accepted, its a clear threat to Finnish defense systes which is based on competent reserve who maintains their firearms skills, she states.
Jäätteenmäki asks from the European commission how it will ensure, that weapons directive is targeting illegal arms trafficing, criminal activity and terrorism and not hindering the corner stone of Finnish national defense - active reserve
